The latest chiropractic techniques administered to promote
normal motion and a better framework on which strengthening can occur.
Close your eyes and
touch the tip of your nose.
We are able to do this
because we have receptors in every joint in our bodies relaying
information to the brain about where the joint is in space and where it is
moving.
This is commonly termed
“joint position sense” and is necessary for coordinated movement.
Sometimes, either due
to trauma or chronic postural problems, joints can get “fixated” or
“stuck”, adversely affecting those receptor’s ability to coordinated
movement.
Mobilization and
manipulation are techniques chiropractors use to free up those joint
fixations and in doing so increases the joint position sense to the
brain.
This leads to a
decrease in discomfort and increased coordination, which we then take
advantage of by exercising the muscles related to the joint to increase
the brains’ awareness of how and where that joint is moving. |
